Safe dressage horse wants to retire to trails now

Fionn is looking for an easier job than the 3rd level dressage he has been learning. He is a super-reliable, trustworthy horse who never has a bad thought. He is safe enough for a beginner, but has a great deal to teach anyone who wants to learn dressage. He is completely solid on leg yield, shoulder-in, haunches-in, half pass, etc. Now that he is older, he needs a job that is mostly walk and trot because he has arthritis, but he does have a beautiful canter and is an enthusiastic jumper (Dad jumped Grand Prix). At 19, he can't do a lot of canter or jumping but he is a fabulous trail horse and will go anywhere (as long as there aren't any weedeaters--he hates those). He's lovable and has perfect manners on the ground and in the saddle and is up to date on teeth, shots and deworming. He does have Cushing's Disease and some Arthritis but those are controlled with medication and special diet. He MUST have a dry lot and he can't eat grass--so that's his only drawback--but he loves his hay and food and is happy to stay in or go out in a dry lot on whatever schedule you need. He's flexible, even if he has to be the only horse in the barn, as long as he has his hay bag, he's happy. When Fionn was younger, he was a very successful dressage show horse, winning championships at First and Second level. You can see his scores here:http://www.centerlinescores.com/Horse/Details/[removed phone]Here is a playlist of some of his videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZCy40SM4hgG3HI13iEwIC2ffvTtWf0w4They are in reverse chronological order. You can see what he looks like with different levels of riders. I have more video if you are interested. The pond video is the first time he had ever gone into a pond, but that gives you an idea of how brave and smart he is. He is a Holsteiner, and for hundreds of years they have been bred for dressage, jumping and carriage driving. His ancestors had to be trustworthy enough to go new places and see new things without freaking out and wrecking the carriage, and you can definitely feel that adventurous, confident spirit in him when he is on the trail or goes to a new place. He's definitely the horse you take along to babysit the youngsters--stuff just doesn't bother him. You can see his pedigree at:http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?d=Fionn&x=-834&y=-27He is a light bay with two white socks on his back feet, and he is about 17 hands, I would guess. He's big enough for adults, but sweet enough for kids.I used to be a really timid rider, but Fionn has helped me get over that. If you know someone who wants a horse but who is a little bit afraid, he can definitely help them. He's just a good boy and I want him to get a good home where he can be well taken care of, so whoever takes him will need to promise to maintain his diet and management, including medication that costs about $95 per month and supplements that are probably $60 more. He IS worth it! I am MORE than happy to help his new owner get all the info needed to continue his diet program so that he can stay healthy and would also happily come and give you some help or lessons or whatever.I got him for $1 back in 2011, and I'd like to "pay it forward" in the same way. He is such a sweet horse and everyone who knows him loves him and I just want to make sure he gets a good home.
